Lots of new (post pandemic) dog owners around. Perhaps they didn’t imagine those cute little pooches could, one day, be too strong for them.

I did the same when my dog was younger and we were working on her recall. It's useful as a bit of a safety net to allow you to grab/stand on the lead if they unexpectedly bolt whilst you're trying to get them used to walking nicely without being attached to you. Wouldn't do it long term though!

people who let dogs off the lead but leave the fucking lead on. seen so many cases of dogs running wild and free but with a lead still attached to the collar, is this a new thing ?
must be so annoying for the dog to have this thing around their necks continually tripping them up or snagging on something as they're tearing about
just take the goddam lead off
