• Anyone recommend a nice chronograph around 38/39mm in size?

Loving the BB58 currently but keep looking at a chronograph, wondering if a Speedy is slightly too big

  • Speedy is never too big! Speak to ejay2.0 if you plan to purchase. ( speaking from personal experience)

  • Zenith Chronomaster Original?

Nivada Grenchen do a range of variants of their 38mm chronograph as well, quite a bit cheaper than a Zenith or Moonwatch but also a much less fancy movement.

  • A second hand Speedmaster reduced 39mm or maybe a Sinn 356? 15mm thick though. I think IWC did a 38 mm pilot chrono as well but probably expensive

  • Can recommend a second hand reduced as @Retro_Bastard suggests! I’m likely biased and ignorant as it’s the first nice watch I’ve owned and I know people have their reservations about it for many reasons, but since I have fairly wee wrists the size/profile is spot on for me.

  • I always loved the Heuer CS (3110/3111 for example) series. I think they are 36mm though, so maybe a bit too small for modern standards? There was a re-issue of those few years ago, not sure if they kept it at 36mm… sexy watches!

Edit: you beat me to it!

  • Speedmaster 38.
But the standard moonwatch carries its proportions well. I have small wrists and doesn’t over power at all.
In fact my daughter also wears a vintage moonwatch and doesn’t look or feel too big on her.
Failing that a speedmaster reduced as suggested here.

  • i am going to sell my speedmaster reduced (39mm) if that tickles your fancy? EDIT: just seen all the other comments regarding the reduced

does need a service though (on that note; anyone used watchrepairuk? seem good value vs STS etc.)

  • I love my zenith and think the 38mm is the perfect size.
