Does anyone in SE London have a pipe cutter available for a spot of bar trimmage?
Edit: oh they're cheaper than I thought. Bought one.

Does anyone close to Deptford have a track chain whip I can borrow from you today? I can return over the weekend or on Monday.
Cheers!

Anyone, preferably NW or W London, have a tool for adjusting hope mono mini brakes? I think it is this hope bore cap tool:

Anyone near the SE1 area have a headset removal and press tool for straight 1 1/8 let me know. Ideally need for next week for build once I got all the parts together.

Does anyone in south east London have a Shimano TL FC16 crank tool I could borrow?
-
• #1658
Not the exact tool but would work nontheless. Will be at SE1 0DG for the next half an hour then SW9 6AG for an hour or two.

Thanks, but as a friend pointed out on WhatsApp, I've got one on my Park BB tool.
-
• #1660
Don’t have the tool but it’s not for adjusting the brakes, only for removing/refitting the bore cap so that you can pop the pistons out/replace the bore cap seal.
-
• #1661
so if I have the pads but they won't fit in, will removing the bore cap with that tool work? Or is there something obvious I'm missing about how to put the new brake pads in?
-
• #1662
Have you reset the pistons / pushed them back in flat?
-
• #1664
I've pushed them back as far as I can but there's still not enough clearance for the pads... I am obviously doing something wrong but haven't found any videos or anything with close enough detail to see how I should be putting them in (and is it specific to the hope mono mini or is this a general issue?)
Update: this video answered my questions/uncertainty about what was going on:

Sometimes you can’t push the pistons in when there’s too much fluid in the system… have you tried letting some out?

Anyone good with cutting carbon steerers or know a good shop that will do it relatively cheap?
I only need 15mm off and 25-30quid seems a lot for that.
Feel free to let me know I'm being a cheapass and unreasonable. Happy to pay in beer or a small service fee

Why does it matter how much you’re getting cut off when asking for a quote? 😂
-
• #1674
Think that's pretty stingy tbh. Yeah it's not much work but it will still take time to measure accurately, cut it nearly, etc, and if there's a mistake they'll have a customer wanting a replacement fork. £25-30 seems fair for the time + that level of risk - why bother to do it otherwise.
Obviously someone on here may be willing to do it out of kindness but that's not what a shop is there for!

My LBS did it for £10 but that may have been mates rates, don’t know.
Id say next time you ride past a semi decent shop just ask them.
(Agree with post above tho re risk. I wouldn’t do it for someone!)
does anyone have a helicoil kit that includes M18 bolt size please? I've borked my cranks
edit: or an m18 tap to try first
