Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

I am the previous owner and they've never been plugged in to a PC to my knowledge.
That may be the problem. You might have to update the firmware given the mix'n'match componentry. Probably worth doing anyway.
-
• #5554
And unless you have many hours free for swearing at the fucking thing do not attempt to update the firmware over bluetooth.
-
• #5555
Maybe. Or I could just keep yelling at her when she cross-chains.
You need some kind of adapter to plug into PC, right?

Not with the internal battery charger, no. Just plug it into a laptop.

Downloaded E-Tube. Will have a look.

Great success...

Is there a different software for this thing?

This is why I don't plug my bike into a computer...
"If you've installed E-Tube Project 4 and you're using the SM-BCR2 charger then you may have gotten a cryptic message starting E-tube Project:
SM-BCR2 recognition. The process is interrupted because the version of SM-BCR2's firmware is old. Connect to the Internet and download the latest version of the firmware.
E-Tube Project tells you to update the SM-BCR2 charger before you can actually use E-Tube Project. Unfortunately, the only way to update the SM-BCR2 is by using E-Tube Project.
The workaround is simple: you install previous version of E-Tube Project, version 3.4.5, and use that to update the charger. Once that is done you can safely use E-Tube Project 4.0.4. Keep in mind that, while most issues shave been fixed, there are still some bugs left in version 4.0.4 and E-Tube Project 3.4.5 may actually work better.
Download E-Tube Project 3.4.5 on the Shimano E-Tube Project site or use this link: api.shimano.com/etube/public/data/upload/published/E-tube_Proj_V_3_4_5.zip

3.4.5 installed and it connected.
All firmware reporting up to date and it shows the two Syncro shift modes and they appear to be correct. So, still no idea why it's not doing the semi syncro shift but does auto-shift when in full syncro. -

I have to say Sram is a lot easier than Shimano on this particular front
-
• #5563
Can't the firmware also be updated from the android/iOS app?
-
• #5564
Don't do that. It will appear to work for a while, then drop the connection. There will be swearing. You will fix it using the pc app, eventually.
-
• #5565
Fucking SRAM.
-
• #5566
Dunno. Never done a firmware update. My stuff works how I want and it's airgapped so I figure updates = pain. Grrl's bike is a mashup and the syncro shift has never worked. All her components are up to date according to the software (presume the shop did this when they did the groupset swap).

Handlebars with only one hole for internal junction A. How tf are you supposed to wire them up with a hole on only one side? have a wire linking the left and right shifters dangling under the stem?
-
• #5568
Drill another hole. Drill loads of holes.

What's the consensus on AXS chain drops these days? Is it less of a thing, still a thing, just a setup issue or sheer pot luck?
-
• #5570
It's never happened to me. The little plastic tolls they give you to set up the derailleurs work very well, and as long as you install the right wedge behind the derailleur it shoud be a non-issue.
-
• #5571
No holes for brake hoses?

• #5572
Hello everybody
Has anyone here ever managed to get a MTB rear derailleur (XTR) to work with a road front derailleur (GRX) ?
According to the compatibility table it does not work together. But maybe with E-Tube ?
Thank You ! -
• #5573
It won't work. Shimano firmware won't allow road and MTB derailleurs to run together.
-
• #5574
Japan don't like the mullet? How sad.
-
• #5575
You can mullet Shimano (road shifters and MTB rear mech) but only 1X
I do have aerobars that would work with. Unlikely I'm doing any gravel rides long enough to warrant double batteries though. Tour Divide one day but for that I might still have the Stanton with cable-op XT.
