  • Watching Minority report on Saturday evening reminded me of how much of a flat spot the late 90s and early 2000s were for me. Am i being harsh/blinkered or were films generally a bit shit around then?

Struggled to think of three films i'd be sad if i could never watch again. Came up with The Insider, Battle Royale and Spirited Away (Like Momento but don't need to watch it again).

I should have added "Lone Star" to my list. Except that's a film I missed the chance to see when it came out and it's only an accident of coincidence that led me to watch it at the weekend and rectify my mistake.

Fuck me, that's a film and a half.

  • Yes yes yes! I saw it in the cinema when it came out and it really made an impression. It took me
years to figure out that John Sayles also made Brother from another Planet which I only caught on TV and didn't know the title of but never forgot.

  • That looks excellent, will add to my list.

But it's 96 so my science stands up

  • I watched Lone Star off the back of this recommendation. Enjoyed it a fair bit! Aesthetically it's a bit dated though. Very mid 90s looking somehow.
