  • Replacing the doors will be cheaper than replacing the whole thing but I've also seen a number of people get the kitchen wrapped which is even cheaper and can still look pretty good.

  • Nice thought but the doors have a bevelled shape to them which I really don't like.
They also are very thick & heavy and some have fallen off the hinges, I've had to repair/bodge many of them.

  • Fropt. Nju Front, Made by Husk, Custom fronts were all in my bookmarks but i’m sure you have looked at them already.

Not sure if the Polish ones deliver to the U.K. but we would get round that with a contact in Warsaw when we finally get round to doing the kitchen.

  • Had one of them architects round today. Looking forward to seeing how my efforts compare to what I'll get in about three weeks time.

  • Some of the windows are nearly ready - flooring has arrived and looks great.

  • Glad we went for the curved wall and the lime plaster. Also really happy with the boards, it’s not quite Dinesen but a fair bit cheaper and more practical

  • We went for a curved silent gliss track in the living room - slightly terrified about how much fabric we’ll need for it 🫠

  • Yeah this caught us out … 2k curtain club 😬

  • @Tenderloin what flooring did you go for in the end? Curved wall looks :chefkiss:

  • It’s Douglas fir from Chauncey - the board are massive. The previous samples we had weren’t as nice as this finish, so really chuffed. And then we have the wood for the stairs which also matches. Should be able to get a photo in next week.

  • Kitchen wall - current plan is Corian worksurface and a 100mm corian upstand. Nothing on the wall apart from a Douglas fire shelf the entire way along. I really want to not have an upstand but think that’s really form over function and probs silly

  • How long was yours? (And shit)

  • That's a big upstand

  • 🤦‍♂️

  • Can someone talk me through how to fit a pocket door into a structural brick wall? Thanks

  • I don’t think you do - I think you put it next to the wall and make a false wall in front eg

  • Wow, that is far simpler than I was imagining. Thanks

  • Maybe this helps give an idea what it looks like - that’s a double pocket door. So as above says you build a separate addition of wall for it to fit within.

  • As below - they come in a metal cassette which you line with ply and or plasterboard. Portman is my go to.

  • 5.4m x 2.4m. In our case the whole width of the house. I’ve got a vague recollection of 24linear metres. To make a curtain that is 2.5 x the width of the track.

  • Hmmm ok - that sounds about right for the one in the living room bc it curves to cover both windows. The one in the dining room is only 4m....

  • Painful but will look boss.

  • I just wanna eat that plaster.

  • double pocket door

How did you decide which side to have it?

Is there a 'rule', or was it practical, or on a case-by-case?

  • In this case the room it's in was a garage, so single skin. We've insulated the whole thing etc so it made sense for it to be on the inside of that room. The door way will also be lined with douglas fir so think that it's more visually appealing this was around as you will see it when open or shut. I'm not sure if there is a rule though.
