  • It’s the closest “re-edition” they’ve made to the original 62MAS design from 1965. It’s still quite different, and a fair bit larger of course, but it’s the closest, which might be one of the reasons it’s been popular with collectors.

But also, it was an expensive watch new and a limited edition (2000 pieces) so the prices reflect that. If you like the design there’s also the SLA037 which has a higher spec hibeat movement, fancier steel for the case and a grey-blue dial, and was 1000 pieces; and the SLA043 which has slightly different case finishing, a navy blue dial and a painted light blue seconds hand. The latter was 1700 pieces and was the last of the three to be released (when most people who wanted to spend that kind of money on a 62MAS replica already had) and is the most affordable of the three now.

More recently they’ve made the SLA065 and SLA067 and while those models have the same movement (8L35) and are also limited edition, they are not as nice from a design and finishing point of view - much cheaper hands, no date window surround, Prospex logo on the dial etc. They are less expensive though.

  • Why the fuck a Hamilton 38mm khaki mechanical barely dropped in price on the second hand market??

  • Love these older seamasters.

  • Given that you're sending the watch off for service, what are your thoughts on one of these as semi regular daily? Can they be made reliably water resistant again etc.? Edit, I have just looked at the prices they go for.....

  • You're in Australia right? Keep an eye out for a 'WatchCo Seamaster 300', before Omega clamped down on their parts sales this company would put together SM300s using all service parts. They used to be a quite reasonable alternative but the prices for those have crept up too.

    Nailed it here. Thanks again.

  • Missed this! Thank you 🙂

  • If serviced proper like then a daily wear is no issue.
    Buying one however……

  • That is amazing!

  • Looks surprisingly normal. Edit: and great.

  • Very nice :)

  • Not mine unfortunately, I wish I will own one soon, that case is so insane..

  • Amazing, wouldn't look out of place on a spaceship

  • Thanks, very interesting read. Sadly, still made of unobtanium for me. Might have to live with a copy... I mean homaaaaage

    @ejay2.0 yeah thanks. I guess I shouldn't be too concerned then 🤣

  • 43.5mm from 45mm, and a lug to lug a better 50mm, Bulova on the right track.

  • What is in the background? A tray, table? Looks awesome

  • Does anyone have a recommendation for someone in South East London who can work with mantle clocks? This was a birthday gift from many years ago that I have finally brought to London. It should work but needs a service at the very least. I really don't want to post it for obvious reasons.

  • It’s a Cartier coffee table book. Is a nice cover though :)

  • I've seen those they come up often on sportpursuit and secret sales. The Rrp's are completely fictitious but they're still Swiss made and most of the automatic ones have a solid selita sw200 movement, saffire crystal some with a crystal display case back so if the case and bracelets are reasonably well made they must be a better bet a fake Rolecks
