  • Edit. This thread is now the trials and tribulations:

    OG Post below:
So.. don’t look at the eBay finds thread! Thanks @Lampman and @TheBonk for the intrigue on what’s below the saddle covers.

Picking up what seems to be a bargain tomorrow.. two Condors for £150.

One with what looks like full DA7800 and another with swept back bars which I hope to make a commuter/shopper.

Will update tomorrow when me and a buddy attempt to ride them back to south from a very north London!

  • Amazing deal, sadly both frames too small for me, do hope they live up to expectations & will follow this thread!

  • Collected both bikes this morning! Must be the strangest transaction I have encountered before. They were handed down to me from on top of a roof to where I was on the footpath 😂.

The story is that the bikes were left there by the previous tenant 4 years ago - the seller had no idea about the bikes and was sick of looking at them out the window.

Anyway, after a quick safety check, saddle raise and tyre pump and we were good to go.

Both absolute peaches to ride. Without a doubt a complete bargain. Can’t wait to get them stripped and see what I am working with!

  • Two birds one stone !

  • Excellent! Pleased it worked out. Great punt.

  • Really like the white forks to match the seat tube bands colour scheme on the Fratello, classy 👌

  • what a score! I bet those are going to clean up lovely!
wheels on the fratello look pretty jazzy!

  • If you need safe disposal of that 7800 stuff, I’m prepared to risk handling it at great personal danger, as a favour, like : )

    (best looking crankset evaarr)

  • These are the best kinda projects 😛😛😛

  • That is some result, most excellent!

  • what a steal, great potential on both bikes

  • Knowing you, these will turn out great

  • Made a start stripping the Fratello today.

The plan is to service all the parts, use the wheels (Open Pro, 105’s) off the Acciaio on it, and then put a v long stem (it’s a 52TT which is small for me) with either the swept back bars or some riser bars.

I have some PDW mudguards that I think will fit the bike nicely, and then I’m going to keep an eye out for a front rack of some description. Never had a front rack or basket on any of my bikes.. open to suggestions!

First thing to do was get rid of the 800 spiders tucked away everywhere and start the deep clean.

  • Excited to see how these turn out. Bargain of the century! The "before" pic of that RD looks a lot closer to mine than the "after". Shameful.

  • Oh my word, looks brand new in some parts. Nice bikes for the time.

  • Pelago rack + wald or Pelago rasket are the best options for front rackcs imo.

  • Update! The Acciaio has been given the works. This was way too small for me - so it’s a quick flip, hoping to recuperate some money for another(!) bike I couldn’t miss.. more to come

New cabling, bar tape was all that was needed. A parts bin raid for a saddle, seat pin, tyres. Everything else was given a full service. Can’t believe how it has come out 🤩

Genuinely wanted one of these for many years, such an underrated frame and team. I plan on building this into a rideable bike (modern cockpit, post and saddle as per bike fit) but with the correct group and details from the 2003 Iban Mayo days.

  • I take it the Orbea would have had Campagnolo? Otherwise the 7800 from the Condor would look cracking on it!

  • What size is the Acciaio? 52?

    Orbea looks great!

  • Yep it’s a 52 seat tube, I think the geo chart makes it a 53.5 Top tube.

Thanks RE Orbea, the frameset is mint!
