I have amended the design slightly based on the outcome of the forks. I ended with 257mm AC and 30mm offset. With a 65° head angle on 16x2.25" tyres that gives me 66mm trail. I think that will be spot on for the intended use.
Seat tube I am doing at 75° so the whole bike is gonna have that progressive hardtail look.
I was gonna TIG this frame to save time but the tubes are probably Reynolds 531 (I don't actually know as I didn't buy them) for the main triangle. They are nice and light and definitely butted. I have chopped them loads of places they aren't meant to be chopped so I am working around that by brazing them gently. That's also one of the reasons I opted for a sleeve for the seat tube. It was fairly thin at the end.
It will be fine as the rider is a feather weight but I wanna make sure my son aka chunky boy is also able to shread it when he turns three. He is gifted with my overwhelming physique so that's nice...
The 25mm seat post I had from the last bike but it didn't fit that frame. And I am actually thinking that the thinner diameter will suit the build, be more gentle for the kids backs and probably look better. Bars are gonna be 25.4mm so it will look balanced i imagine.
Chainstays are Zona s bend seatstays (cut too short back in 2014) with a little 44bikes style crimping. They look the part I think. Seatstays are gonna be tapered straight Columbus something I had laying around. I might bend these a bit. I am not sure. I'll make it up as I go along. I might ovalise the top tube but instead of scallops/fish mouth i might do a CAAD 10 style transition since I am brazing everything anyways.
