Another owner of a mk1 Leaf here, what we paid in fuel, road tax and repairs for my old Legacy Spec B more than covers the cost of the payments on the Leaf and the payments on a PV array and battery for the house.
Live in Scotland, so public transport is pretty minimal.
Do cycle to work a bit.
Still have a 2006 Outback for long trips witb the family often towing a trailer.
