All the bosses are actually being pretty cool about it all.
I should have an FLT licence or someone, who has one already, is supervising.

Im not licensed for the forklift so we wanna avoid insurance
Well, you've successfully avoided insurance, because I'd bet that the company's public liability insurance doesn't cover operation of fork lifts by unlicensed drivers 😀

Some idiot made my washing machine stink of white spirit, any advice on how to make the smell go away?
-
• #116055
Run it on a hot wash cycle having thrown in a bag of soda crystals.
Repeat two or three times. -

There is no such thing as a forklift licence, but you do need to be suitably trained and authorised to operate one. Suitable training is usually recognised as being provided by an RTITB or ITSSAR qualified instructor in the UK.
Did you have any training on the truck? And where you authorised by the company to use it? Unless you went completely rogue as an employee, I'd say it's management's problem if they're knowingly letting you operate in that way.

There is no such thing as a forklift license
I think people are using the term in the colloquial sense as "A record of having successfully completed appropriate training", rather than "Permitted by the government to carry out the activity"

Of course, Gesetz FOUR LETTERS ABBREVATION MAINLY in CAPS, Paragraph X, Absatz Üpsilon.
It's funny how stereotypical the Germans are (Dutchman in Berlin).
I like the phrase "Paragraphenreiter" (informal) / "-wichser" (obscen) for the typ of person that derives pleasure in mentioning and quoting them.
I was asked if I am liable last time on the construction site (architect) by a construction manager, which I still don't know to have taken as a threat (you're fucked because we are gonna sue you) or a compliment to ask if I'm a partner in a roundabout way.
Luckily for me I am not.Germans even put that in emails (i.A. Name: "im Auftrag") to note specifically that they're not liable.
Talking about the aforementioned I think I should as a precaution..;)

Glad to hear all are ok and bosses/co are behind you. Hopefully use it to get signed off and whatever pay rises go with!

I’ve been using Vapextech ones for years for work, they’re great. Their AA’s are 2900.

Cheers.
Good to know about the Ikea ones @frankenbike and @bq - shame I'm not planning an Ikea trip anytime soon.
I risked it with some Energizer Recharge Power Plus. They have the capacity, charge cycles and discharge rate I'm looking for but for some reason don't seem to have flown up in price like the other brands have. Hopefully won't come back to bite me.

I mean, they are a well know brand, so should be fine. Just don't buy from amazon* as quite common to get fake batteries from there.
*ever really, don't support them

What are HEIC files (other than some shitty image format I can't see) and more importantly how do I view them on a windows laptop where I don't have admin rights to install the various add-ons that are suggested?
-
• #116073
According to Bard, HEIC files were invented by Winston Churchill as a way to store newspaper clippings.

On a Mac you'd open up the file and export it as a JPG.
I'm not sure what the Windows equivalent of that would be.
Thanks bro, no one was hurt.
I have spoken with my area manager and indirectly with the CEO.
Not gonna lose my job, obvs were gonna throw money at the sitch because Im not licensed for the forklift so we wanna avoid insurance etc
Their insurance wanted me to admit fault on the phone, so I said I need to review the CCTV and everything needs to go through our company and gave them the number for that.
Ive seen the footage now, its not in my favour. The guy is in a weird place and I did check my mirror but Im gonna be at fault here.
Its just bad timing, Im running the place alone (manager off with stress) and we discussed stuff like this. Ive put my foot down regarding the forky, 3 weeks ago.
Bet I get booked in now.
Actually impressed my company havent thrown me under the bus.
