  • Has anyone here done diy electrics on their camper conversion?
I’m know very little about van electrics but as I’m converting my van myself I’d like to have a go at it.
I’d like to install a leisure battery to run a few lights, tap pump and charge my phone. That’s about it really. I don’t need solar. Maybe a mains hookup.
I’d like to order all I need as a kit but can’t seem to find one.
    Any advice is appreciated.

  • If I was doing a van from scratch I'd forget an old school lead acid leisure battery and run the whole lot off a decent USB power bank. If you need 12V for the water pump use the starter battery. It's not like you're going to drain it with a few seconds use. You could also consider one of those camping power pack things.

(my actual van has a ludicrously elaborate Arduino-powered dual battery 24V system, for Reasons)

  • Thanks. Camping power bank is a great idea.
It’s only a day van so I just want it to be simple
