    Absolutely there are. None that isolate the glutes so well, though.

    For me, it's not so much about working the glute, but not working the hamstrings and / or lower back. As an accessory lift - I'm not sure I'd want to do it instead of squats, say.

  • I’ve got nothing against hip thrusts at all.
    Just theorising why it’s so popular with Instagram models and female gym goers.

    I’ve seen women hip thrusts 130kg plus, but not be able to do half that weight in squat/deadlift. Different muscle distribution also.
