Cool project, I like the brushed finish! In case you didn’t know already: judging by the stays/dropout interface as well as the position of the frame number, it seems to be a russian made frame. I have 26er with similar details which was originally sold as a Van Tuyl. Back then, it was not uncommon for manufacturers to sell rebranded russian made Ti Frames.
P.s. if you’re planning to use 26mm bars, I’d go for deda piegas. Reasonably priced and bdhu fit compatible. -

Scotchbrite usually

scotch-brite and a bit of elbow grease

thanks a lot! I'm familiar with the fact these frames are Russian, I also heard some of these tend to crack at the bottom bracket area, but if you have the right version these frames last forever. And thankfully it seems I'm in the last category because this frame has seen some abuse. Current bars are Deda RHM01 but I think something carbon would be nice.

Brushed is awesome!

I concur! Although you could have taped/masked your name on the DT and left it polished

Stickers are on, getting an even brushed finish is harder than I thought but it will be allright in the end. And had the same experience as @bamisoeptycoon, it didn't take me three seat posts but only 9 years to discover that a normal 27.2 also fits instead of the 27.0 mm I had.

Very good looking bike, proportions are nice.

That was my dream style when I was a kid and still is. I always wanted a Litespeed with carbon forks and deep carbons.
Anyway looks amazing well done. -

This thread is unreal!

Boonen stuck with Alu cranks because Campag didn’t make carbon ones with his preferred crank length - 180mm I believe.

Boonen stuck with Alu cranks because Campag didn’t make carbon ones with his preferred extra long crank length.

Progress on the Diamant is slow because I was smart enough to order some things abroad so now I've to wait. But the weather is shitty for road cycling anyways so this isn't really a problem.
What I did is change a few things on the Jan Janssen, it got new seat post and because I was annoyed by the handlebar clamps of the wald basket I took one of the clamps and changed so it fits onto the front brake bolt. And a gold chain because no reason.
there you go

Cracking paint job. And, er, cracking seatpost.

• #146
now I know why it was so cheap. But another good reason to keep an eye on my diet, let's see how long it will last

love the miche post. send it!

thats a nice trick with the basket, how stable is it?
-
• #149
thanks! not as stable as the original mounts but strong enough for my use
Busy times at home and at work so I didn't finish the Diamant yet, but I hope it will be done by the end of next month or so. Also the Gazelle Trim Trophy and Peugeot Mtb will have some nice updates and I bought an ugly 26" Libertas (never heard of) broadway so new pictures are coming
Miche seatpost is not broken yet

picture heavy update of the current projects:
I started with cleaning and polishing the Peugeot Free Radical frameset and ordered some chinese 26" rubber
And a real slow burner this Gazelle Trim Trophy project, at the moment I'm polishing the brake levers, a few other things have to be done but we're getting there
And I Came upon this piece of art a few weeks ago, a Libertas Broadway 26". Great color, great condition and a dirt cheap. the latter won me over.
And the Diamant has it's new 3T carbon handlebars. Another plan is to sand carbon part of the seat post and remove the grey decal. Busy times ahead.
Looks nice, how did you achieve the brushed finish?
