I'd be quite up for a battered tarck bike if anyone picked one in 53cm-55cm up and has changed their mind.

somewhat of a bargain here, hiplok DX diamond rated mini d lock for £40 if you can put up with it being Paul Smith branded ;)
-
• #5531
It's gold rated. Not so much a bargain for gold, but fine.
-
• #5533
true, my confusion is the same as Amey’s, listed gold on the Paul smith site but seemingly diamond on the hiplok site, maybe it’s an older version
-
• #5534
Yeah, Mr Paul Smith seems to think its only Gold. Meh, might be an older model or just a typo. Anyone fancy buying one and angle grinding it to test for the rest of us?
-
• #5535
Apparently both. shrug.gif I agree, probably not much in it in angle grinder time anyway so who cares. But for half price from anywhere else, still decent I reckon - I say trying to justify my purchase…

Diamond for bikes
Gold for motorbikes (for which much beefier locks are needed) -

Cool Olmo for a bargain price. Nothing super special, but groovy paint: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/859644918605686/

£1k seems pretty keen for titanium full bike w/sram eagle 12-speed: https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CBTISRGX/titus-silk-road-sram-gx-titanium-adventure-bike?

They had those Titus Ti frames up for £450'ish and then with an extra 10% off recently.
Lifetime warranty seems alright doesn't it. -

Missed that. Yep, the lifetime frame warranty does seem decent.

Yep, the lifetime frame warranty does seem necessary.
FTFY.

Fair.

Why’s that? Aren’t Titus one of the larger ti builders?

They may well be but I’m sure their name comes up almost as often as Planet X’s own in the ridiculously regular ‘help, my ti frame has cracked’ posts on the framebuilder groups I’m in.
If they are producing frames at a cost that means they can be retailed at £450 then they are cutting corners somewhere.

I had a mate who had a "frame for life" MTB frame from PX. Cracked at a weld on the third ride; you could hear the "PING" noise when it went.
In fairness they did offer to replace it for him, but he got something different instead.

I think for ti to be ‘For life’ you need to be spending Moots type money.
If you’re spending Planet X/Titus/Waltly type money then my advice would be to keep the box it came in, you’ll be needing it before too long.

Waltly type money
You certainly can't get anything out of Waltly for £450 but I take your point. 15k km on mine so far and not so much as a squeak
Reckon there’ll be about half on eBay or gumtree for £200+ by the end of the weekend…
