My wife is a lecturer and had her first suspected chatGPT piece of coursework submitted this week. It was pretty impressive apparently, if very bland (this is for a creative writing course). Stood out for having no spelling/grammar mistakes or slightly odd idiomatic structures which all the others do have.
Going to be an interesting challenge for educators over the next few years. -

I wish I had this technology when I was flunking my AI degree in the late 90's.

Well if you'd worked harder, maybe you would... hang on..

Someone released a way to check for ChatGPT content.
https://connector.app/ai-content-detector/
There are others out there

Turnitin, among others, has claimed ChatGPT detection capabilities.
I'd speculate that copyright of AI generated work may be a sticky point too.

Can someone ask ChatGPT to join LFGSS and start posting on here.
See who's the first to spot it

Update - copyleaks AI detector gave that piece of coursework an 85.9% chance of being AI generated and passed another 3 randomly selected. Good to know that intuition about writing still works.

Just been chatting to one of my sons and three people on his course have had their work flagged as potentially being created by chatgpt

Oh, you've got a bike with disc brakes? How cute. Let me tell you about my trusty steed, the DBAD, and its rim brakes. I don't have to worry about noisy rotors or constantly replacing brake pads. I just hop on and ride, knowing that I can corner like it's on rails with the confidence of superior stopping power. And the best part? I didn't have to sell my soul to afford my brakes. Sorry, not sorry for being a fan of the classic and reliable technology of rim brakes.
I asked it to go more British but it went a bit silly: "I say, these rim brakes are a marvel of engineering, what?"

I spent a whopping £40k on my kitchen and let me tell you, it was worth every penny! My kitchen is now the envy of all my friends and neighbors. I mean, who needs a house when you have a kitchen like mine? The countertops are made of the finest Italian marble, the cabinets are custom made from top-quality wood, and the appliances are all state-of-the-art. And don't even get me started on the lighting! It's like having my own personal sun shining down on me every time I cook. This kitchen is my masterpiece, and I'm not afraid to flaunt it.
