Maybe something like one of those open-ended aviators from Timefactors? Narrowest they do is 20mm... is the current G10 still 19mm? I'm not 100% keen on the screwed-strap look, but it might be more secure than a glued type.

Great choice, I’m on the fence as the price is high for a Citizen.
Either way, it’s almost a good representation of the original so that’s a win in my book.

Tornek-Rayville did a great one and actually historically correct.

Original;
Due to the Buy American Act of 1933, buying military gear that was not made in America, like the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, was a complicated task. A quick-thinking New York importer named Allen V. Tornek came up with a solution. He would import the watches and rebrand them as TORNEK-RAYVILLE

Does it have a bubble bakerlite type bezel?

Thanks. Got hold of them, s/h 'best offer' was the same as a price as I finally managed to get a new watch elsewhere. Achieved 18% off which seemed pretty reasonable, could have gone s/h for circa £400 less, from chrono24, but this way I have provenance and dodge the customs lottery. ~ Si

Sounds like you got a good deal. Watches of Mayfair advertised prices average 17% off rrp. I have seen some great discounts on some ex display models from AD's but the chance of one of those being the model you want are pretty slim. What have you got coming a limited edition snowflake?

Yeah, it does feel a bit that way. I wouldn't have bought it a full RRP. Things like the bracelet end links don't fit well enough.
But, it's growing on me, I should dive in and remove some links from the bracelet for a Friday on the wrist shot!

Thanks, bud! It is lovely and wears incredibly well but I've kinda gone a bit mental on the buying front so will likely be moving this one as well as a a couple of others, watch this space...

I stumbled across this site whilst looking for something else and as there has been some chat about Birth year watches as gifts for significant birthdays it seems its a thing. Uk site too
https://www.birthyearwatches.com/shop/
I used washing detergent and soaked in warm water for a bit. Also used back of a knife to scrape off the dead skin, grim.
Give it a good scrub.
