Not digging trend of having more black/bare carbon bodywork on this generation's cars. Even Ferrari are joining that group with a messy livery. What's with that random shape on the side pods?

Could be trying to mask some kind of aero bulge or contour? Assume you mean the black patch behind the Ceva Logistics logo? The Shell logo on the side pod seems to have some curves under it on the circuit photos? IDK?

Mercedes winning the livery (or lack of) for me. Ferrari also looking ace.

Would love for a team to turn up to testing with a misleading flow-viz livery

Could they use a UV flow vis that they can just inspect back in the garage under special lights?

I had a similar thought also, seems odd to be giving away that info to all other teams. But I guess the real important data is comparing it to their simulations, so they're only giving away one part of the useful data.

I wonder if they’d normally just do this in the tunnel, but they’ve had tunnel time heavily restricted this year so maybe they’ve got no choice but to do it the old way at the track!

Williams (at the very least) have also been doing it. Maybe they all accept that there's not much to be gained from hiding in the age of high-speed high-res digital photography
