Spot on.

Tried Bowmore in a restaurant a week or two ago, and quite liked it. Just picked this up from Tesco, and it's rather smoky & delicious!

burns night seems like a good enough excuse for a drop or two

I add a splash of water to get it to my liking. Best done with a water jug with a narrow spout so you don't accidentally put too much in ( I imagine true whisky nerds use a pipette). Some say you should add a drop of water to all malts to "open the drink."
I'm currently enjoying this Springbank cask strength I picked up from the distillery shop in the summer. I add a tiny bit of water to get it to what I imagine is around 40%

From the colour of the liquid in the glass it looks like you’re drinking water, neat.

Shit - rumbled!
...its a very pale malt, I swear...

What of the Ardbeg Uigeadail?
As with all scotch over here, it costs a fortune, but anything for the one I love... -
• #4185
It's really lovely, probably my favourite single malt so far.

Thanks, tempted

I really rate it as well. Is very smoky and tary, not for everyone.

I've been moving that way over the last 10 years or so, I think the Octomore was the one that got me thinking.

It's like smoky bacon crisps! Leave the empty glass out overnight, the room will stink of it (in a good way)
-
• #4190
Nice, wait, you mean the Ardbeg or the Octomore?
-
• #4191
The Ardbeg Uigeadail

Right, 3 luffgussers and 30 Helens agree, time to break open the piggybank
-
• #4193
Octomore is supposed to be the king of smoke, tho i haven’t tried it because the price is bonkers! You will not regret breaking the bank for Uigeadail though.

Had a great time at whisky club. This Deanston in particular was wonderful

Yeah the first time I tried it was in a whisky bar where we were taking turns paying for drams. I stepped up because I simply had to know and was pleasantly surprised that, to me, it wasn't just an experiment in extremism but quite enjoyable. I could pick up a bottle if there were any around this backwater, but my photography, cycling, clothing et cetera funds would suffer.

Okay, couldn’t wait, sold my birthright.
Interesting! All the smoke I anticipated, but unexpectedly sweet.
This requires more research.

Went to the Talisker distillery last weekend, got a bottle of the Distillers Edition, very nice indeed

Couple of bottles of Springbank 10 spotted at Yard Arm in Leyton this week. £59. That's Uigeadail money though.

Have you had the chance to conduct any further research?
I am sure Basildon tap water is equitable to a Scottish island well, right?
