  • Maybe I'm just projecting based on friends but buying a badly-painted bike (ideally with overspray onto the drivetrain) feels quite queer. Could a distasteful coloured KMC 1/8in chain make it onto the mood board?

Strongly agree with @samrensho 's assessment that Rapid Rise is masc. Lot of worrying discourse about it on comments online.

Would be keen to hear @Maj 's assessment on what the gayest derailleur/groupset is.

  • i think it's pretty much a given that a single colour mango bikes fixie/ single speed is extremely gay coded, kmc coloured chain included, although i would not use such words as distateful, challenging normative superstructures may be more apt.

now i don't want to speak for parties i'm not part of, but i have been a member of most the alphabet at some point or another...

L esbian : single speed but they only have a front brake
G ay : 2x 10 which barely functions due to rust
    B isexual : 105 but it's a pressfit crank
T rans : rohloff gear box
Q ueer : hub gear belt drive
    I ntersex : grip shift
    A sexual : fixed
    + : nivex

  • Very solid reflection and goals for the year. I think we can all benefit from that mindset.
    Nobody needs Junk Miles.
Nobody needs Bad Vibes from ignorant people when you are on a vacation trip (or ever actually).
Nobody needs to ride big miles when they enjoy building and tinkering with bikes more.

We need more gay bikes though.

  • does a neon orange Dahon mini velo with curved seat stays loose hubs , single speed conversion and a strange front suspension doodad find a home in this treatise ? … never sure about where the designers felt it should fit tbqh

  • Raleigh shoppers, incredibly old Dutch bikes and Pashleys, single speed mixte conversions.

  • this with a bafang

  • Behind every work of art lies an uncommitted crime

  • Can i ask what the great sandwich place in the new forest is?

  • https://goo.gl/maps/7mcoozh8JKQFegoU7 - it was so good, went back a few times as it's down the road from burley yha (great spot, great easy riding and very cheap off season)

@TvH think it will be, trying to find a stepthrough which is LARGE with clearance for 2.1

  • Step through with clearance for 2.1 is that crust though isn’t it?

  • it is, also a riv, but i'm bored of spending money on bikes so im more so trying to manifest something into existence on a bst/ebay thread

@amey when are you putting a bfang on one of these, after you've sold the stooge?

  • I am dangerously close to buying one, only issue is they dont have a dealer in the UK and shipping+tax is a bomb from America :(

  • Stooge happened because I was about to buy a Jones spaceframe and truss forks and it came up in the UK. Same issue with jones, no UK dealers.

  • surely a socially savvy person like yourself can sort a proxy, @launchpadboi was boasting in the pub the other week they had a "fool proof way" of importing us bikes with no tax after securing a [redacted]

  • if nothing, this blog post alone is worth buying a Bike Friday: https://bikefriday.com/a-racers-perspective

  • Isn't this what @JB is for?

  • Yeah. @amey - hit me up if you want me to forward it on. @Tijs had his Crust delivered to me and just provided me with a shipping label. Happy to do the same for you.

  • Also dibs when you get bored of it.

  • Still the best day of my life.

  • Your vibe is very much like this guy on utoob

    Path less Pedalled

    https://youtu.be/8ciAbH_7wrU

He’s all about slow rides on comfortable bikes

  • accruing a few parts for the cross check

    notably

    swept nitto bars
    some new blue cables
    90mm hope stem
43c gravel kings (will they fit the motos??? who knows!)
going to swap the matching tb14 rimmed wheel i have off the pacer, and probably the free hubs

the freehub swap is because the tb14 wheel has a campag body which is limited to 28t. one is a mono, another is a pro3 so they should swap fine? but if they don't/ i can't be bothered they're both running off friction and it's a marginal loss in gear range.

rim isn't just for aesthetics but it's ever so marginally wider than what i have, still suboptimal for larger tyres but it's "fine".... well at least a 40c was on my old caad which had a tb14

should just make it a bit more comfortable to bimble around on and a bit more "fun" when doing so

but more importantly, should make it look a bit gayer

if it sticks around might get a poweder coat next winter as i really do dislike the colour.

  • 43c gravel kings (will they fit the motos??? who knows!)

Mine clear 47c, so I think you’re good.

  • it is, also a riv, but i'm bored of spending money on bikes so im more so trying to manifest something into existence on a bst/ebay thread

    You need one of these:

  • disc brakes?!?!?!!?!? i think not!

@Tijs excellent, this is reasuring, thank you
