I don't think you are providing actual evidence that those bars makes sense mounted like that.
Are you suggesting that gravel bars should only be operated from a specific position in the drops and therefore sacrificing the "tops to hoods transition" is acceptable?
And if that is the case does that make a compelling argument for purchasing such bars you think?If so I think they can be exempt from the BDHU doctrine as the point of this is to provide better position for riders on dropbars in both the drops and on the hoods. But then I'd argue that such bars are a shit purchase compared to a bore BDHU compatible flared dropbar that will allow you a "road like on the hoods" style riding for flat stretches and riding in the drops on descents and very uneven surfaces.

TBH honest I’m ambivalent about these type of bars. Maybe I should have called them ‘dirt drop’(?)
I have some Midges set up Bdhu and they ride superfine, I also have some Droves set up the same and the too are lovely. Yet the above bars and the like have a flat section at full drop as so long to make them usable if flat to the ground. I have no idea why they have come about and can see no positives. Yet here they are and we can’t blame folks for being unable to set them up.

I’m sorry, but I’m calling an intervention on the gravel (dirt) drops. They are not road drops and if you try to set them up as such they are pretty much unrideable. Although they are ugly, I think they need a pass from bdhu.
