  • CoffeeHit, they initially had it for 25th Jan shipping and have now removed it it seems and I haven't received any coms

  • I stupidly tried to grind some grains for flour in my iberital and they got jammed so I had to open the whole thing up... I'm pretty sure the burrs need sharpening or replacing, so I thought I should do that while it's open - any tips on reliable sources for replacement conical burrs? I'm seeing this for £32 but some for less than half the price on ebay...

  • Espresso technical have always been good for spare parts. And dead helpful down the phone, personally I wouldn’t bother with the time switching burrs only to put cheapo ones in there.

  • Does anyone have a portafilter pressure gauge they could stick in the post (and then for me to return)? Obviously I'd be happy to cover postage both ways!

I'm changing the OPV on a new machine, but need to test the pressure somehow. I could buy my own, but seems silly for such a small/one off job.

(I'd need a 58mm portafilter AND gauge sending, if that's not clear).

  • Or, alternatively, does anyone have an old 58mm single nozzle portafilter that they could bung in the post (again, happy to cover postage to and from!) and I'll buy my own pressure gauge?!

  • so might have been a blessing I never got around to shifting my gaggia, we had our offer accepted on a house with an 8m x 4.5m outbuilding which will be housing my office/workshop/games room and the gaggia will be perfect for avoiding trips back into the house for the kitchen all the time.

  • Congrats, moving back to the motherland?

  • Nice one! Damn jealous of that, intending to get a garden room/office at some point but that's likely a few years away!

  • In light of the property news I shared with you a few days ago, imagine how fucked off I am that I gave our precision brewer to a friend last week.

  • not quite so far, it's this far from where I'm sat.

  • Oh damn. I'm jealous.

  • This outbuilding will obviously need its own thread

  • You bastard, that looks awesome

  • Question: how much coffee do you get through in a year? My wife and I use about 10kg, in the form of split espressos through my Robot.
Just curious about whether this is high, low or average - I buy an espresso from my local 4 times a week on top of that.

  • I’d wager about 6.5kg for me.
18g espresso shot every weekday. 20g brewed coffee on weekend. Days missed probably average out with days where I double up.

  • 13/14 for me
500g bag every two weeks does two espressos every morning.

  • Probably about 1kg ever 5 weeks so about the same

  • 12kg or 30g of coffee between the 2 of us for the morning brew.
if i repair my gaggia or get a lever machine i expect that to go up a bit.

  • Dropped massively for me. 250g every 3 weeks. One cup a day. Probably 4.5kg max. Probably buy one coffee a week.

  • 20kg of green coffee for me (only do 1 order per year so easy to track!), which would be around 17-18kg after roasting. Will pick up a few small 250-350g bags here and there but probably only around 5/year.

  • Wow awesome response, thanks all!
I guess on a per person basis we’re on the low end.

  • I’ve got a Gaggia Classic I could part with.

  • Gone down a lot in the past year. Not entirely sure why.

All through a Technivorm at home - used to do 70g every day, now do about 40g most days, some days 80g (say once a week).

    So what's that, 12.5kg + 4.1kg = 16.6kg.

Plus visitors where I might do a couple of full pots in a day. Say an extra 1.5kg over the course of the year, bringing it to 18kg

  • That it's 3am and I'm working has absolutely nothing to do with anything.
