  • Oh shit yeah misophonia I have that pretty badly. I don’t go to the cinema because I can’t stand the sound of the eating. I nearly punched some guy because he sat next to me on a train and pulled out one those massive bags of kettle chips. I managed to keep my shit together enough to ask him through gritted teeth to please not eat those near me and recommend another carriage.

I once had a team leader who only ate crisps. About 12 bags a day, she was in her 20s and had lost a lot of teeth. I had to endure her gumming pack after pack of crisps everyday. I think she was the source of my misophonia tbh

It’s far worse if I’m tired. It’s my problem not the noisy eaters, but the rage response is pretty heavy. I sometimes have to nip off for a minute so as not to be horrible to someone who really doesn’t deserve it. Even words like crunch or munch set me off. Adverts with exaggerated crunch sounds send me berserk, the noise they use for a magnum ice cream… dear god give me strength . Drinking makes it go away so there’s that

Simarly there's some anime that I've quit for good because of how the actors do their eating noises. We also had someone staying with us for a couple of months who seemed to think she was being polite by making appreciative hmmm noises while eating like some kind of exaggerated child. I don't want a review of each chew.
