What wheel size? There's some mad bargains out there for 27.5 at the mo. Something like a Pike might be better suited to what you're riding
But yeah, unless you're going to factor in £150+ for the inevitable service a second hand fork is likely to need, try and buy as new as possible. Forks is the one area of bikes that pains me at how wasteful it is, a two year old fork is - more often than not - considered unusable
