  • cask strength whisky, what is the idea?
    You add water yourself to a palatable level?
    Drink it at a punchy ABV?

    Ordered up a Raasay cask strength (61%) limited bottling, and have no idea what I am doing with it.
    only 1500 bottles, so will likely leave it for a while before cracking it open

    (if anyone else wants one, you need a code to order, SC-CS-2023 £65 and there is a free delivery option)

  • I add a splash of water to get it to my liking. Best done with a water jug with a narrow spout so you don't accidentally put too much in ( I imagine true whisky nerds use a pipette). Some say you should add a drop of water to all malts to "open the drink."

    I'm currently enjoying this Springbank cask strength I picked up from the distillery shop in the summer. I add a tiny bit of water to get it to what I imagine is around 40%
