    As can people who use M instead of MM to denote millions.

  • If I'm reading that right the NPL-approved way to express a million pounds would be "one megapound"? And a billion would be "one gigapound"?

  • ......M is the SI prefix, not the unit. Values larger than the unit value tend to be upper case (M, G, T......but not k!) and lower values tend to be lower case (c, m, n, p, etc.)
