  • I've still not ridden this as I've not been well enough for long enough.

I have replaced the chainring with a blue raceface one. It is still 32t but reading around 30t might be better for pump track ratio so I have one of those put aside just incase also.

I swapped the cranks & bb over to fit some old bombshell velocity so the slx can go back on my inbred for another rebuild.

I have some blue dmr deathgrips too, which colour coordinate more and also have some blue rotor bolts to fit as a finishing touch.

Then, maybe I'll ride it before the winter is out.

  • Depending what's on the rear (hard to see but it looks between a 16-18T) you don't want a 30T up front, you shouldn't really be pedalling once you are going. Always nicer to do a quick turn on a higher gear between rhythm sections as too low a gear spinning can throw you off balance or risk slipping a pedal IMO.
I would also say drop a link or two out that chain so you get a bit more wrap around the rear sprocket. I don't want you to have a skip just as you are cranking.

  • Great advice, thanks. It's a 16 at the back iirc. Skip free preferred so thanks again I'll shorten chain.
