You are outing yourself as an old school bond trader with that comment! Especially if you use MMM for billions ;-)

Think big, think positive, never show any sign of weakness.
Always go for the throat. Buy low, sell high.
Fear? That's the other guy's problem.

Anyone that writes out all the zeros in million / billion can safely be ignored.
I actually think the opposite to this. I wish in reporting they did put all the 000's in. There's so much information lost in comparing 'millions' or 'billions' as opposed to writing it out long hand so you can see how much the difference is.
(I know it'd be unwieldy and lose readability, perhaps some other illustrative way of showing how big these numbers are when they're used would be valuable)

I just associate it with people trying to lie / scare with numbers or use inappropriate units.
For example, 2,500,000 litres of water sounds like a lot, but it's about one Olympic swimming pool.

How many double decker busses is that?

Already did that out of curiosity, about 10.5.

Please people, can we stick to blue whales when measuring such things?
-
• #80519
Whoa, when did that become a thing?
Double decker buses, Nelson’s columns and Wembley stadium are all valid units of measurement but blue whales sounds a bit fishy.
*I know its not a fish

He must be mixing them up with Wales (and/or Belgiums).

Another standard unit of measurement, well spotted.

MM is only the convention for millions for finance and accounting.
