My mother-in-law has been trying to find (for years!) a record of her father singing in a choir that was recorded at least 70 years ago. She stumbled across it quite by chance tonight and brought it over.
I have never seen a record like it, it has bee 'moulded' over an aluminum plate. Unfortunately it has started to blister and delaminate, but luckily the two tracks are still intact.
The quality was pretty poor (and it is a 78) but speeding it up in Audacity and cleaning the waveform a little yielded a reasonable recording which she is absolutely over the moon with. She thought she would never hear it (her father died when she was 18).
I guess it is quite an early 10" dubplate!
