    The game has always had a very good reputation for fair play, which is why the Stephen Lee and (spit it) Higgins affairs were so reviled.

    Now though? I dunno.

    It reminds me of an incident at Q school last year where a very good ref friend of mine followed one of his players to the toilets between frames to discover them receiving coaching advice in the cubicle.

    Obviously this is a different level of offence, but it emphasizes the things we need to increasingly watch out for as the game grows in stature and reach.

    I wonder if in my next referee briefing by a WST member of staff we will be told to look out for suspicious behaviour.

    One thing is for sure, ten or so top amateurs are going to be quite excited at the prospect of getting a phone call from the tour organisers any day soon.
