I have one of the ones distribution tools and a leveller - I think it helps and cost is minimal. I wouldn’t spring for one of these super spenny things but think in total they cost £40

I bought a cheapo needle distributor for £5 which deffo helps the shots.
I’ve been using a 58mm tamper but have been wanting a slightly better fitting 58.3 or 58.5mm for a while. And spinning the leveller looks fun lol.
This is the normcore thing

I've got the tamper. Fits well in a VST and one less thing to worry about with consistency. I rate it a lot (also was the cheapest 58.5 I could find at the time which was a bonus).

Just popped this onto the classifieds, if anyone’s interested

Just got my first ‘Batch’ of Christmas present subscription coffee from ma in law….
Cleaning the machine tonight for a fresh batch in the morning - yum!
EDIT: the African moon smells like milk on the turn, the other one is much more palatable.

My neighbours are lovely, and recently gave me a small bag of beans from their cafe.
They are no-name, but something to do with being aged in / roasted near / went to school with barrels of cherry brandy.
They make utterly undrinkable gash coffee. The cherry brandy smell has turpentine tones, and is almost abrasive. I actually had to spit out the first (and only) mouthful.

barrels of cherry brandy
pretty sure cherry brandy is made in factories without reference to barrels.

Not a coffee aficionado, don’t drink much and only ever use a mokka pot, but Aldi sold some Honduran fair-trade stuff a month or two back and it was probably the best coffee I’ve ever tasted, shop or home. Of course I can’t find it any more, bought some Colombian and it was so-so by comparison.

Suggestions for 1kg espresso beans delivered? Will probably get some YB but keen to try something new.

hello! picked up this eureka mignon yesterday and from what i can tell it's the 'dosatore' model which came with doser that sat on the front of the machine
i have three things i want to resolve:
- how naked and ugly it looks without the doser on
- the the coffee comes out in a kind of awkward way
- a few grams of coffee end up stuck sitting in the little chute at the end
number 3 i imagine can be solved with one of those 3d printed bellows (although would resent paying the amount i spent on the machine for this)
any ideas for some sort of faceplate that would solve issues 1 and 2?

Butcher one of these:

into a funnel and bolt it on like this:

Then use of these to blow any remaining grounds out of the chute/machine.

I’d also advise something on top of the beans to stop them popcorning everywhere if you’re single dosing. I use a tamper on my grinder - not sure what will fit yours best.
Ps - you jammy git, that was an absolute steal for the money.

If I was in London I'd have tried to buy that first. Great deal.

The entire point of a bottomless pf is to fanny around with it.
E. Apologies for making such a pointless reply to a month old comment.

Sort of. I did it to fit a bigger basket and more coffee. But one of those needle jobbies did help with the spraying issue. And now I’m one of those poundshop Hoffman cunts I promised myself I wouldn’t be

Probably the easiest thing you can do is stop watching Hoffmann and you’ll enjoy drinking coffee again! I love watching the guy and have learned loads, but the more I watch the more it spoils my enjoyment of coffee.

I don’t watch him. I watched one video and immediately thought “fuck this”
Is there a halfway house, because I get that having something neater/less Heath Robinson would be nice?
I actually just got a payout from the Nationwide on my MeCoffee PID that failed in 2018 (thanks Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act!) so have a bit of a coffee budget at the mo :)
