Full bike pic from tonight's ride. First time (and almost certainly not the last) forgetting to turn the climb switch to open before heading down a rocky bridleway.

I haven't had one for about 2 months but think it's still repeating on me.

It would complete the transformation of 'nice looking hardtail' to 'fucking horrid dadbike cruiser shitbox'

Yeah, they're not so crazy. I've now got Ergon grips and aerobars so I'll be running it 'as is' for AMR and basically seeing what happens. I'm more worried about my knee giving me grief but sore hands is a common theme on dirt ultras so I'm sure I'll have some issues (if I make it past day 1)

Sweet
Good job you’ve got that light on it, that’s the kind of bike you could lose in the dark
Also, good luck on remembering the climb switch one way or the other. Mostly I forget to turn it on for the climbs, which I find is preferable to remembering it for the climbs and then forgetting it for the descents. One particularly uncomfortable descent of devil’s elbow sticks in the mind.

I feel like double barends should be a thing to really tip this into proper pengy...

Anyone used this or a Bontrager combo lockout/dropper lever? I wanna get rid of the Rockshox gripshift one so I can run different grips and these are candidates.
Squid is metal but has skinny lever which could get annoying in use.

I need more back sweep as well. Ever since my neck break accident my wrists hate me. Running 8deg FUNN bars atm. 12deg sqlab would make a massive diff. Gonna try get some.

I went 16degree on the sq lab bars. V v happy
No wrist pain since then

Having one fitted in a week...........

For those who can't / don't want to stretch to SQ lab prices ergotec also do some 12deg sweep bars. Not sure if they do 16 degree though.

Got a mate who's building up an Ultra bike for riding off road. You recommend AXS? You ever had to charge yours mid race or anything?
-
• #25720
I would recommend it if they've the cash. Yes but it's quick and easy to charge and you take a spare battery.

Nice

Good to know. He’s building fresh and reliable.
I’ve never personally had any issues with AXS and I haven’t charged mine in about 6 months. But for long distance is a whole different ballgame. -

Nbd, not too dissimilar in size and shape to the cotic I stupidly sold in 2020, nowhere near as nice but a decent bike for €1,850.
