We camp on Dartmoor with our Gold DoE boys, luckily our route stops just North East of Stall Moor. But seeing the odd tent/couple parked up in a secluded valley and settling down for the night seems a terrible thing to lose.

This is sad to hear, I went there around '97 as part of my uni course. We were under strict instruction to leave no trace as it is such a unique site.

It’s a fucking tragedy to lose this access.
Granted a lot of people have shamefully treated the land there like shit, but this is not the right response.
As with so much in our society, there’s a chasm in the education when it comes to respect for land/nature/each other - and allowing access across all land would allow an improvement in that education, rather than shut it down completely.
Hopefully this silly ruling will kickstart the beginning of greater progress for right to roam. -

All of this.
I expect it will take a change of government to change the direction of travel tho.

Met Police officer David Carrick admits to being serial rapist
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-64289461
So many opportunities to catch him. I don't even think it's a Met issue, men who treat women as objects are endemic all through our society.
Misogyny doesn't even count as a hate crime.

But that means the cunt actually had money? I assumed all the cars were just borrowed for photo shoots etc.
-
• #80267
You mean Tate? Yeah he's got money, he's been running a porn webcam business. That's why he's being held on people trafficing charges because it's alleged he tricked women in to working there then held them against their will by taking passports etc.

Isn't he also pulling in a few million a month from his hustler's university thing?
-
• #80269
Last numbers I remember were something like 120,000 members each paying $30 a month.
Edit - although that number is from the guy himself so the reality is probably much lower. There's a screenshot on reddit from May last year of 35k members. -

Jeremy Clarkson loses his job again,
as do Richard Hammond and James May I suppose.https://deadline.com/2023/01/amazon-jeremy-clarkson-part-ways-meghan-markle-apology-1235223477/

They have their own deals with Amazon to produce things without Clarkson. Grand Tour was dead
for viewing numbers anyway, so I doubt that'll bother them much. -
• #80272
This is a fucking horror story

• #80273
Have heard him say despite all the other hustles, he pulls most of his money from some Romanian casino franchise

There must be 1000s of people already doing this.
Having worked both for a mobile home/ caravan producer and on holiday home sites, most have permanent residents that are (or at least were) legally only allowed to stay there 10months of the year.
I always suspected this is fairly unenforced? Particularly as cycle anywhere rural and you’ll come across a fleet somewhere. It’s also something I considered (albeit probably more kit home on a corner plot) growing up in Dorset where house prices are out of step with local wages.
It's why we can't have nice things, I don't know if many of you have been to Wistman's wood, its a tiny magical remaining fragment temperate/Atlantic rainforest on Dartmoor and you used to be able to walk all through, I haven't been since pre pandemic but read the other day that most of it is now fenced off as it has got too popular from social media and people were carving graffiti in the lichens and mosses or cutting off bits to take home
