    True, but its a resonably educated guess. Based on a number of things but not least of all how the most consumed media outlets in this country report on left wing policies and supporters. Something else that is quite potent for me is the number of older folk I have spoken to in recent times who say they don't want to vote Tory but won't vote for labour because "socialist policies will bankrupt the country".

    It's weird, isn't it. The "old" (and I'm generalising here) seem willing to fuck the country's future in so many other ways (NIMBYism, Brexit etc etc) but they care a lot about the national debt (except the bit of it that funds the triple lock).

  • It’s understandable. You’ve worked hard your whole life, hated the relentless debt treadmill of your 30s and 40s, just about getting comfortable in your 50s, maybe even starting to enjoy life again and you get worried that someone might change something that sets you back. Small c conservatism is the safest bet if you’re finally doing Ok.
