Honestly nice to see a sensibly steady progression

Don't disagree but you can get ten points a week for going to the gym so it doesn't all have to be cardio.

Weather looking pretty special for cross country races this afternoon.

I'm considering full length trail tights...

I've put gloves in.

The fresh fruit I got loads of points for was for my wife and daughter, can't stand the stuff myself.

Air Zoom Pegasus 39 Shields purchased, thanks all.

Big fan of pegasus, but also saucony axon if you want a curvy shoe.

Sun came out at 12.30, so I ran in shorts. Kept chest warm with LS Helly + LS Merino + vest + buff. Look like the Michelin Man on the team photo.
Hope you had a good run.

I thought it was below average but came 75th so it was ok. Proper mud fest for the first time this year. I should have put 15s in.
The weather gods smiled on us as well. Rain stopped and sun tried to come out five minutes before we started and it stayed dry until we finished.

Muddiest race of the season so far too here (apart from gmxc which i missed), so 12's were perfect at Tatton. Started slow, then crept the effort up. Similarly raced in sunshine travelled home in a downpour = perfect.
75th is great, I just scraped top 300...

Thanks for the flipbelt recommendations everyone. Managed to pick up a new one off Ebay for £10. Used it today for the first time and it was great, totally forgot my phone was there.

Nike Alpha fly/streak fly - I discount the Vaporfly as while they’re very nice the soles don’t last at all. Nikes returns policy is very good too (as long as you buy direct from Nike), I had a pair of alphaflys that got a puncture last week after about 180k, walked into Nike and got an instant refund, would have had a replacement if they had any at the same price but not wanting to spend an extra 150 on alphaflys 2s at the moment.
Not much tops these two across a wide range of speeds and distances for me.
If running really hard the ASICS metaspeed sky is top choice for me, but for me that’s <3:45 per km that they are really amazing and they seem to stall at slower spees for my mid foot gait.

My current vaporflys have 500km on them and still going strong - I think the flyknit uppers make a big difference too and the sole unit seems to hold together better (I have others which were knackered after 250-300km)
Really wasn’t a fan of the streakfly - I found them a bit of a nothing shoe tbh so interested to hear what you liked about them.

They’ve slightly killed them by almost constantly discounting the others for the last few months, but for me they have the grip of the Alphafly, but with increased flex and lower stack that make them feel more like you’re doing all the work and they have just enough of the squish and pop of the alpha to not make them feel like running in bricks like other shoes do for me now and at half the price they feel like almost good value..
I realise how long shoes last is a combo of how you run and seemingly manufacturing variations but my last pair of vaporflys were down to the carbon plate in around 100km so have given up on them…

Sometimes on 10km plus runs, I get a sore left shoulder/upper back. I think I'm maybe holding or tensing it when I'm running. Has anyone had anything similar?

If anyone fancies quite a fun 10km course in February- can fully recommend this:

Last time out I got a huge treacle tart as a goodie bag. Totally worth it.
(was a bit dry last time so hoping this year is proper slop-fest- and may take the doggo) -

I get a sore left shoulder/upper back.
From time to time, I find if you loosen it off and sort of wiggle the arm around for a bit it goes away.
In other news, local roads are completely flooded, made for an interesting morning loop

Is sportpursuit.com legit? Some good prices there but a bit off put by need to register there first? Has anyone used it?
-
• #28648
Yeah its ok - I had one bad experience where one of the arcteryx bits i bought was a sample or something (writing on label) but other than that ok. Basically an online tkmaxx kind of thing behind a registration

Thanks! If it’s good enough for a baller like you then I’ll take the plunge. Need a few bits and the economy is eating my ass.

Yep it's fine. You have to pay for p&p, and also to return stuff. I've got loads of bits from there
It's coming back to me. My cycle commute was just long enough to count as the 30 mins exercise. Back then I was doing 4 days in the office, and a 30 min cycle commute (still got me above 70% MHR) is a lot less strenuous on the body than a 30 min run.
