  • Barbeque bike next level.

  • Any omniums for sell? Asking for a friend.

  • For anyone interested, the Continental Contact Urban 47mm set up tubeless really easily.
Now just to see how it does against punctures.

  • Usually have my light up on my bars but it’s always a nuisance with it shining on the contents of the box. Will be carrying something tall later on, so decided to patch on an alternative light mount. 30mm wide strip of carbon, some drilling and filing, bit of tube and a nut and bolt. Voila.

  • That looks very good and clean!

  • 30mm wide strip of carbon

Yeah, lots of that in my scraps box, next to the graphene.

  • That Euro plastic box just wasn't enough, built this other thing for carrying more shit on top of it. Was an interesting ride earlier

  • So a fun experience having to get to Deptford last night.
My Bafang battery didn’t work, much turning on and off reconnecting the leads, panic, and then it kicked in after 3-4km.
    Any ideas?
    Damp? Cold? Shitness?
I may have a trip to downham tonight and that fucking hill is a pain without assistance.

  • Bike lives outside under a motorbike cover, battery stays on bike.
Everything was on just battery wasn’t driving motor

  • Could be corrosion building up on the electric contacts, especially if kept under a cover (can create a bit of a damp environment). Do you leave the battery on for convenience?

Also was cold yesterday, batteries don’t like that

  • This cold isn't going to do lithium batteries any good. Get them inside overnight if you can.

  • I guessed corrosion, brought the battery in this morning (forgot last night...).
Thought it might be one/both of those this morning over coffee.

  • This cold isn't going to do lithium batteries any good

Long term damage, or just affecting current range?

  • I’ve wondered about using one of these

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Akozon-Heating-Black-Carbon-Blanket/dp/B07HB6H8S9/ref=asc_df_B07HB6H8S9/

under a rain cover on Liz’s bike. They are only 1 volt so shouldn’t be to much of a drain. This morning it was -4 and the range of her bike was halved. The battery goes inside a night and once at work as well, but the ride in was super chilly.

  • My battery definitely felt weaker due to the cold after 45 minutes of riding this evening . MAX POWER was more like BOOST and not MAX at all.

  • so a heat pad to keep the battery warm, running off the battery?
I didn't do physics at school (didn't do much at all) but surely...
seems a bit like perpetual motion

    also, it's max 5v

  • Battery fine after being in overnight last night

  • It’s a thing on EVs and does extend their range in cold weather, so thought it may help? But they do have comparatively huge batteries.
Maybe a properly insulated cover would be a better bet?
Today it was -4 again and one of the charge lights went out after the first 2 miles even though Liz was on zero assist and just running the lights and the range is about 60% of that in the summer.

  • My battery died off much faster than usual this evening while out riding in the cold

  • I was talking to an EV owner yesterday and he said his range was down by about 20%. That’s on a big, unstressed battery. Small batteries where you’re really leaning on their current-delivery capabilities are going to take more of a hit in this cold.

  • Hello,

Customer of ours is looking to sell his e6100 Bullitt which he purchased in August 2020, it is in red and equipped with Nexus 5 Di2 and has a Madjax box with the cover, I think he will be looking for about £4200 (ish). It is in exceptionally good condition. If anyone is interested I can find out exact milage/asking price and put you in touch.

  • Anyone have a nihola? my wife seems to want one

  • I rode one as postal worker and they handle like an ATV more than a bicycle. Also heavy as hell!
You have to be prepared to lean/countersteer with your body into corners or go very, very slowly.
The design feels more rigid than a Christiania though as the frame doesn't scissor.

  • She does not ride any bike fast (why she wants a 3 wheeler as she feels like shell tip over on a long john) and this seems better then the dutchies like the Christiania at least to me. And this is much cheaper then the black iron horse ones she saw (8k$ here) Thinking this may be a good option but maybe even convert to single speed with a 250w ebike rear hub. I know that sounds strange but wife bikes get like that.
