  • Bravo indeed. Quite temped by one of these but no doubt they suffer from Surly borrower headtube syndrome?

  • I started reading this thread from page 1 again. Would recommend, so many good bikes

  • Both excellent, any idea what canti rack that is?

  • After spending a long time looking for a nice probably steel frame to build a road fixed and failing to finding anything matching both my size and my budget, I got fed up while drinking and won this frame with a cheap bid.

It's not as cool as e.g. an njs frame for road training with brake holes and cage bosses but it rides better than I expected

I should really put a rear brake on as part of the point of this was to have a fixed bike that's legal here but after building it now I just don't want to cable tie a brake cable to the top tube...

  • Lovely build.

    100% recommend one of these:

Sorts the ungainly problem of a cable, looks great and protects your bike during locking up (also it crossed my mind that if I slammed into the top tube it would soften the blow somewhat, despite not having done that since I was about 10).
Plus bonus points of supporting a person in Ukraine where they are made.

  • That's really nice, you and @Elpolo knocking out some similar but equally great stuff atm.

  • Thinking about a fork swap on the road fixed Dart. Is there a rim brake tapered fork with decent clearance (32mm +) and a relatively low atc dimension option? Max 375mm ideally but would consider 380mm. Think Whisky 7 road plus but tapered. Also interested in disc options (Fairlight Anraed but a bit shorter).

  • would this kinesis work?

    Crown Height: 380mm
28c tyres with full size mudguard.

Should be ok with 32mm tyres without

  • Whisky 7 road plus but tapered

If you have a 44mm ID head tube, using this fork with a ZS44 lower headset gets you an even shorter effective A-C than a tapered fork the same length with an EC44/40 lower headset

  • Yeah i tried this with a Condor disc fork (same atc as the Whisky) and it kept the toptube in roughly the same place as before. Looked a little odd with the 44 headtube imo. If i could get hold of the road plus used i'd be keen but the one for sale on here went quiet i can't afford new.

  • Short steerer eh?

  • Ha well spotted. Yeah this was a looks test only.

  • Not the most visually pleasing build but it’s loads of fun as a Road Fixed. Need to sort out a bottle cage - bidon in the frame bag is a bit of a PITA.

  • Since you're at the end of the jetty, you might as well jump.

  • Took me a moment to get the Vanhalen pun :D

  • My Steamroller reimagined in a drop bar guise.

I'm not in love with the cockpit (hence the slightly goofy upward hood angle) but I've got some parts en route that will let me run it in a more neutral position.

More snaps here (inc @hollow__legs love).

  • Solid entry. Re your cockpit, have you tried some BDHU?

  • Here's my version of a road fixie in winter mode. Currently my favourite bike tbh.

  • I think a dynamo hub would be a perfect fit for those spook zone miles.

  • 99.999% perfection
Guessing its a singlespeed with the two motorbike braking devices ?

  • Zoom in to see bolt on cog.
