  • If its the bag I think it is. Tis very good. Flown twice with one and bike survived twice.

I've used an older/much smaller one extensively, and the bike inside was lightly damaged once (on a return trip, so I had time to fix it).

This is the bag that the chap from Raaw recommended as it's the one they use, so hopefully they had someone on staff who rode the XL frame.

I can't summon the motivation to stuff the trail bike in the bag tonight, so it's still both a wave and a particle.

  • Ok, the trail bike fits - mech will have to come off but I do that anyway.

  • I’m uncertain whether the Madonna would fit- I guess I can use a lower mounting hole and there is a tiny amount of adjustment available backwards, but I suspect it’d be tight

  • According to the Raaw website the Jibb has a wheelbase of 1276mm, the Madonna 1305, which is 5mm over what Evoc say the bag will support. Can I finesse 5mm? I could always let the air out of the fork I suppose. We shall see.

  • Oof that looks really nice and secure

  • They're great bags - really nicely thought out. The wheelbase come with disc armour, but I'd still take the discs off as if they're off the wheel and in the middle of the bag I'm confident that the baggage handler would have a harder time bending them.

  • Turn the fork backwards? Would that gain you any reduction in length?

  • I have done that on a roof rack before, but I think it'd put the fork lowers through the front of the bag, if that makes sense.

  • The Madonna does have adjustable chain stays - by putting different dropouts in, so I could certainly pull the back axle in toward the centre of the bike by 10mm that way. I think letting the air out of the fork would be simplest though (and I might be able to finesse 5mm without doing that).

  • That might include some triple clamp Ohlins if I lose all sense of proportion

  • In other news, thumb shifters are hurting my thumb. Fucking overuse injuries because of thumbies, who knew? I see brakes and shifters can be adjusted separately but doesn't seem they move far enough forward for me. Might have to spin the brakes up a bit to get the thumb shifter further away.
Or I could install MTB Di2 in the next 2 weeks and put shift buttons everywhere.

  • HTFU straaaalya. Go ss or penal colony >>>>>>

  • please please do it

  • AXS shifter/mech and the rest XT/XTR

  • It's telling that the colonials have weak thumbs.. I wonder if the chopped off digits of the Oz invaders past have some sort of effect on the current gene stock.

  • Going from 0km on the MTB to 3x100k is finding all sorts of issues (which is worrying as AMR is around the corner). Thumb strength not likely an issue given although it has been a while since I've fitted a bastard tyre, so maybe SuperThumbs™ are losing their abilities. I put it down to the stupid wide bars everyone uses and me not bothering to put shifters in a nice place to begin with. Maybe I could make a Pissweak Extender Lever™ so I don't have to cock my thumb back so far to shift? Perhaps incorporating a pulley system...

  • AXS and narrower bars?

  • Get a Gameboy for training

  • Is your shifter I-spec or on a separate clamp?

  • It's nature's way of telling you to ride a singlespeed

  • Gripshift, look, it's your time to shine!

  • Good question. I found I spec not easy to position.

  • Whats the saddle of choice for mtb's? The right hand rail on my specialized has snapped .

  • The shifting of champions

  • I'm not a fan either. Separate clamps for me every time
