  • Not a delivery or order issue, sorry, but product question.

I've a Rain Jacket II, which I like very much. But it's a bit 'tacky' feeling inside on the skin so I generally wear a long sleeve merino base layer underneath it. BUT, merino being the wonder material gets moisture off the skin and is sending it straight to the inner of the jacket, which when its not too cold can overwhelm the breathability. Question being, should I wear a thin layer over the merino base-layer and under the jacket to help control the moisture inside?

  • I know this isn't the answer you want, but if its not raining, don't wear a rain jacket, wear a wind jacket. If it is raining, you're gonna get wet anyway, so suck it up.

  • Update that is of no interest to anyone including me.

Delivery was for yesterday. Delayed. Rescheduled for today. Delayed.

Compared to buying off here - bought and paid at a weekend, arrived 2 days later via no special delivery option.

TL;Dr Buy off of here, fuck The Man

  • Third day of “out for delivery” then “sorry, we were unable to deliver”.

    Reinforces the message above

  • Have to say I am a bit disappointed with my Rapha Classic Goretex jacket after a few months use. It’s a great jacket for most rides, fits great, seems well put together and all that, but the upper arms let in water even in moderate sustained rain. There are just too many seams going on there.
I guess the use of the description “highly water resistant” rather than waterproof should have been a clue. In fact the rest of the jacket is great, the shoulders stay dry, but the arms...

  • This is to be expected of all Gore Tex jackets, both fully waterproof and not waterproof, and is nothing unique to Rapha. Gore Tex infinium is not a waterproof fabric. It has taped seams so the number of seams shouldn't make a difference so long as they're well taped.

Oh - and read this: https://www.gore-tex.com/support/care/outerwear

  • Shakedry RIP is fully torrential waterproof but yeah infinium is windproof.

  • Rain is seeping through the taped seams that run along the front of the arms, easy to see if I am wearing a light coloured base layer / jersey underneath.

Agree that this may not be Rapha specific, but given that the fabric seems to work really well on the shoulders and everywhere else, I can’t help thinking that if the seams had been placed elsewhere the jacket would be much better.

I bought a Shakedry (Gore Race) around the same time and I am glad I did. Fit around the shoulders is a bit weird though so the search continues for jacket perfection.

Thanks for the link JB, I had already saved a similar page from 7Mesh:

Not too sure about the advice to “wash, dry, repeat often” with these DWR fabrics. Even after using the correct products and methods, they are never the same again after washing. My approach is to try to avoid needing to wash them more than absolutely necessary.

  • Can I just say that as a small bricks and mortar business owner, I absolutely loved reading you all complaining about delivery. My time will come again!

  • Do you have medicine for children?

  • I am thinking of the blackmailed pharmacist in happy valley !

  • Still nothing received but have had an email from Ralph’s to “review your experience” - they helpfully give an example of a review “I enjoyed shopping here and received my order very fast”…..

It seems it’s a pretty standard experience https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.rapha.cc

  • That's an example review of how to get your order delivered quicker. Leave a bad one and it'll take longer.

  • Cunning - review to say everything is great then when you don’t receive “well your review said you were happy with everything”

  • Of course. You just have to come here and get it. It tastes very bitter mind.

  • Bought the Pro Team Winter Jacket in store today. Got home and compared it with my old PT Training Jacket and I think I prefer the PTTJ, especially the fit in the arms.

Anyone compared the two? Will the new one be warmer on the bike?

Don't want to chuck hundred thirty quid up the wall if I basically already own the same jacket.

  • What happened to Rapha “re-educating” customers to pay full price?

  • COVID happened

  • PNS happened

  • Did you decided to keep the winter jacket? I’ve been looking at buying it but unsure. Interested to know what you think.

  • Ordered a jacket on the 6th, got a despatch email on the 17th and Evri have just confirmed that they have received it today.

I obviously there are bigger issues in the world, but that's pretty shit service.

  • I ordered 6th, delivered 16th, returned it all yesterday and ordered different stuff.

  • This is London fixed gear and single speed right?
There's a store right in town you can take your sweet fixie to, where people will be baffled at how you ride a bike with only one gear - you must be so fit. However, you'll casually brush it off with a clichéd and pseudo zen-like quote from something you read on 'Shit fixie skidders say'. Once the people have momentarily parked their disbelief, you'll try on some nice but pricey clobber, realise that you need to size up compared to that thing you last bought 5 years ago, but reluctantly pay for it anyway (still kinda pricey even in the sale). Partially satisfied with feeding the consumerist agenda, you squeeze into that fresh drip after a quick oat flat white then skid off into the sunset flipping a finger to a conveniently placed EVRI delivery van. -end scene-
