Please can someone buy this! Itβs brand new and needs an artist to give it a home.

This is great, my youngest (5) got acrylics from Santa, so I did this while she was trying them out.. one colour and a Sharpie marker. I also did this one this morning.. googled an image of Santorini and again tried to stick to limited colours..

This has been sitting in a cupboard for a long time, and has now been put up in my (finally completed) office.
I bought it to help raise funds for @Rowhan after his third, and sadly final, bout of cancer. I shall enjoy looking at it for what it is, and for remembering Andrew.

Iβm going have a go at painting with oils. What do you mix the oil paint with?
-
• #1539
You can use different oils (linseed is a popular one) or turpentine if you want to thin it, or white paint if you need to lighten it.

What if you want to thicken it to create texture?

All sorts of stuff
Iβve used plaster, polyfilla, flour :) -

Oil is really great to paint with. Try to avoid turpentine, it's not the best stuff for your lungs and other organs...

Going to try the polyfilla/plaster/flour tip too! π

Will any linseed oil do? This stuff is way cheaper than the arty stuff

They do water thinable oil paints now - makes it much easier to clean brushes

Back in the day when I used oils (which to be fair was at school) we just used white spirit. I'm sure it's very poor practice and it would be obvious to anyone who knows how to do it properly, but we were happy with it.
I think linseed makes it take even longer to dry - good it you want to work the paint a long time, not so good if you need to get it to school the next day. Preparing my A level exhibition I was often driving wet oil paintings to school with tissue paper laid over.
