• Cheers!

And for Bifold vs French vs Sliding doors is one better, or do I need to stop being so lazy and do some reading?

  • Based on the assumption your goal is to open up the back as much as possible, physically not just visually...

French good for sub 2.2m (ish)
Sliding good for 2.5m and above
    Bifold often fail.

I agree fully with this. 1.1m is about your limit for a triple glazed glass door because weight. I shan’t admit what my job used to be but I’ve opened a lot of bifolds and they’re invariably clunky very quickly after they’ve been fitted. Maybe just lazy owners not adjusting them. Once you’ve waggled and crunched them open they make a nice big hole to the garden but for the 90% of the time your doors are closed bifolds have too much frame and not enough glass. Sliding are best.

    Velfac/Rationel

But my experience here is that these brands are the Stone Island of windows and doors. 15 years ago Velfac were the shit but competitors now offer better for cheaper. Find a local supplier that does a few brands so you can compare costs and quality.
