Not IME, epecially with XT. Unless you go for the AXS mech and shifter with Hyperglide+ cassette and chain.

I'm going to say user error ;-) If we're claiming anecdotes... I've had only XT shifters from 9 all the way through to 12 speed with no issues since the early noughties.

I don't mean in simple shifting performance for a casual user but robustness, reliability, use. Plus when it's first, well used, abused it still just shifts first time correctly. For a big use case, it's a better product.
