Weird folk, Anglers. Harpoons are maybe a bit strong a treatment for them but otherwise I agree.

is he not suggesting that the US used to stir up dissatisfaction/revolution in other countries but now other countries are stirring up dissatisfaction/revolution in the west?
-
• #80179
Ha. Just goes to show that try as you might, you can’t control nature.
-

Don't think so. From the timing I think it's safe to assume he's talking about the riots in Brazil and Washington, with the one in Brazil being assisted by the Bannon/Trump mob.

With regard to yesterday's Hermes/Evri news and subsequent debate.
Just read that Evri pay their German drivers about £4.50ph more than their UK drivers. That's a bit shit isn't it?
Reminds me of the DPD driver I met in Austria who said he was paid about 25 euros per hour. We have a wages problem.
-
• #80183
yes, i agree that's what he's talking about but i meant that russia had been helping trump and also presumably helping push the "stolen election" narrative. i haven't followed brazil closely - have they been accused of similar there?

But all the EU furrin's are now under tight immigration control, so how can this be happening in countries that still have Freedom of Movement?
/sarcasm
In Germany taxes are higher, so the drive earns more but some of that will go to taxes and single-payer health insurance. Austria you also need to pay your own insurance. Though 25 euros is good I think.
Be worth looking at the other circumstances too. For example, RM now wants the posties to run and insure their vans (dafuq) it could be that as a whole the package is better in Germany.

My mum tried it in 1990.

Was about to mention this - I think the usual UK courier model is self-employment, which would make the comparison with DE even worse if you were taking fuel & lease costs out of already lower wages.

I don't know. Not seen anything about Russian bots, just more general social media stuff blaming the Bolsonaristas e.g. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jan/09/pro-bolsonaro-violence-social-media-platforms

And then a gorilla that thrives on shark meat to deal with the shark? Wait, maybe it wouldn't fare so well...

The slope gets slipperier - yeah, they're still only buying shit things - golf, WWE, Newcastle, Formula 1 - but soon they'll start buying sporty stuff that matters.

As a Newcastle fan who enjoys watching the wrestling in the Peckham Nags Head whenever I end up there drunk it's really starting to limit me. If only the PIF would think of little old inconvenienced me every once in a while.

Quite surprised that Saudis haven't bought Newcastle Brown Ale and restored one of the league's greatest kits.
(Saudi Arabia are starting to dabble in alcohol investments, and extremely limited relaxations of alcohol use in some circumstances domestically)

Sorry - didn't realise you liked the wrestling

I've just checked a map and this appears to be a self contained lake, but there does a appear to be a small watercourse which is close which joins the river roach. but it looks like at least 10km of river from the sea.
Its nuts that a seal has found its way there.

Nah, the lawn bowls crowd won't sell out like that

Team Trump were in Brazil doing that; some of his aides were attending CPAC in Brazil in 2021 and one was detained by authorities in Brazil as part of an investigation of “anti-democratic acts”. See also Steve Bannon.

A little more good news, although I think it's unlikely we'll ever see bills down at 2021's level (£1,200) again.

HSBC made a big deal a couple of months a go they would no longer fund coal, turns out that was just pure rubbish

I don't believe the US rioters know enough history to consider the colour revolutions. Maybe some of them can recall a violent regime change in Iraq. They're more likely to have been inspired by their own revolutionary war in 1776. Wronged Americans have a duty to grab their guns and take power. But I bet they never learned anything about the colour revolutions or the CIA at school. Maybe Snowden is talking about senior republican nutjobs who planned the Capitol riot? People like Steve Bannon, Mike Flynn and Corey Lewandowski?
Edit: or maybe he spends his days worrying about falling out of a window?
