• Office wearability cross over is the compromise.

    I currently ride in 5'10 tennies. As an 'approach shoe', they are not as stiff as a mountain bike shoe - but I wear them all the time too. Ideally I'd have something stiffer for those 25km plus rides, but on really big days in big terrain the walkability can be useful. They don't look too much like a kids skateshoe or a technical shoe, so casual office appropriate I'd say. The 5'10 Sleuth DLX is also probably good for this.

    My brother (ex 5'10 user) really rates the specialised 2fo roost - which for a focused MTB shoe I think looks better than the equivalent 5'10 offerings and apparently grips pedals just as well.

    the Trailcross / freerider / freerider pros are all great in their own ways - but less suitable for day to day wear IMO.
