I nearly destroyed my Wahoo when I crashed into a tree, what kind of mounts do you guys use on your mountainbike?
I see there are top tube mounts available for enduro bikes

I've just got a normal out front mount, which seems stupid, but I generally use my face to stop so it's not as risky as it seems.

Top cap mounts work well for me.

Recommendations on what trainers for flat pedals?

Been years since I rode on flats, but fancied a change up.
Got some Spank Spikes fitted.

Way-back-when I was a Vans fanboi and rode TNTs or Rowley XL2s
These days I only have pair of Old Schools or slip-ons and neither are ideal.

Bonus points for being able to wear them in the office without looking too 'MTB'

I like the Adidas/5.10 Trailcross series. Grip as well as the popular 5.10 shoes, don't turn into heavy buckets of water when it's wet. You'll have to make your own mind up on office casual.

Office wearability cross over is the compromise.

I currently ride in 5'10 tennies. As an 'approach shoe', they are not as stiff as a mountain bike shoe - but I wear them all the time too. Ideally I'd have something stiffer for those 25km plus rides, but on really big days in big terrain the walkability can be useful. They don't look too much like a kids skateshoe or a technical shoe, so casual office appropriate I'd say. The 5'10 Sleuth DLX is also probably good for this.

My brother (ex 5'10 user) really rates the specialised 2fo roost - which for a focused MTB shoe I think looks better than the equivalent 5'10 offerings and apparently grips pedals just as well.

the Trailcross / freerider / freerider pros are all great in their own ways - but less suitable for day to day wear IMO.

FiveTen are grippiest but I think the foam sock cover thing on shimano for keeping rocks and shit out of my shoes. The normal FiveTen Freeriders look just like my old Nike skate shoes and would be fine in an office that allowed us plebs to wear trainers. I wear the Elements as my normal shoes since my Nikes died.

I have black laceup 2FOs and they are fine for office causal. Can't comment on the grip though as I ride SPDs

Any Five Ten shoe, I have the Sleuth dlx which looks like a normal sneaker. I had Vans before but these ones have way more grip and are much more durable

Work appropriateness is moot really, currently I am wearing asymmetric Jordans, so anything will fly.

Looking for a mtb via the c2w/leasing scheme. My use case is mainly long rides and ultra races. Done a few gravel ultra races but 40mm tyres and no suspension wrecks my body after a few days. I would blindly get a Canyon Exceed but old fashioned leasing company wants a physical store. I know little to nothing about mtb geometry and such. Main focus is comfort for long days.

I'm looking at the Scott Scale 910 Would this be a suitable bike for my needs? I also like the fact it has electronic shifting.

A pure XC bike sounds pretty much perfect for your needs. Scott Scales are highly rated but they have skimped on the cassette with that one- look for something with a 10up, especially for gravel races. I'd say they have chosen quite a few cheaper and heavier components to squeeze in the AXS shifting. Have a look at the Scale RC Team instead, full XT groupset is really *really*good , it is lighter than the 910 and cheaper!

The Scale is a great bike. As the new one has just been released (a few weeks ago) you can probably pick up a decent decent deal on the 'old' model in a physical store.

I know PF BBs largely okay and accepted now but consider threaded bb. Chisel, Epic etc.

GX AXS is amazing though a leap beyond Shimano mechanical.
I really got fed up with it after braking several shifters and Shimano being Shimano saying there wasn't an issue (there was). I've had the same GX AXS derailleur on for over a year now, can't brake it.

If actually using it for ultras, having electrònic will be sweet. I have fucked my thumb a few times with repetitive strain using mechanical MTB and that was with xtr so even lower actuation force.

Not IME, epecially with XT. Unless you go for the AXS mech and shifter with Hyperglide+ cassette and chain.

I'm going to say user error ;-) If we're claiming anecdotes... I've had only XT shifters from 9 all the way through to 12 speed with no issues since the early noughties.
