Not necessarily, the heater will be fixed to the plinth and will make up some strength in the structure.

I was thinking more of if I have to remove the plinth in the future for whatever reason. It's a tight fit already.
That said, am I just overthinking it? Not even sure why I may need to get the plinth off again in the future. I suppose I could always cut the slot to the right size and then cut it in half.

I've got a plinth heater to fit and the instructions say to cut a slot in the plinth. My plinth is 115mm high and the slot needs to be 95mm high. Is it just me or is that going to leave me with a very fragile plinth? Am I better off just cutting a complete section out to avoid certain plinthageddon in the future?
