• I picked up a Fireboard 1 on ebay recently thinking I may pair it with a fan for more precise temperatures.

Annoyingly I didn't read up properly beforehand and didn't realise that you need an extra, very expensive, cable to pair it with a fan https://fireboard-eu.com/shop/drive-cable/

Long shot but I don't suppose if anyone knows whether there are third party versions of this or if you can just create your own? Google has found me nothing so far.

  • I doubt it, it looks like an 8 or 9 pin din which sends on/off info and power to the fan, maybe something exists but I'd have thought there's something else going on circuit wise to keep it a closed system?

I've got something similar for my thermoworks billows but it connects by USB c, just checked online and it's 20 quid for a replacement, 100 quid for a cable is a bit spicy.

  • Yes, 8 pin din. Also can be used to charge the device and the cable has some sort of speaker. I might have a go with a multimeter and a chopped off cable (I'm assuming it is a standard size) to see if I can spot anything useful but not feeling hopeful.
