Yeah I thinking you’re bang on.
I figured there’s likely a washer missing causing the binding.
I pulled the free hub off and I can see a recess in the freehub that should probably have a washer in there. Without it, the freehub is just being squashed into the hub shell causing the binding.I imagine that the hubs come stock with an 11 speed freehub and someone’s forgot the washer when switching over to the xdr.
From memory I think some hope hubs have a similar washer behind the freehub.

My gf's got those on both her road bike and mtb (650b). She's done 8 200km audaxes on the road ones this year and they've been great. There was a slight wobble on the rear a couple of months ago and I equalised all the tensions, been fine since. Hubs are solid.

I bought a XDR freehub (on its own) for my V6 hubs a couple months ago and it didn't come with a spacer. So I assume you're right that the spacer is already in the hub with the Shimano 11 freehub. Sorry I can't be arsed to pull it off to check!
On a similar note, the WTB Essential 650b V3 rear wheel I have on my commuter was a bit sticky on the bike when I first got it but I greased the plastic seal/cap on the freehub and that solved it.

Thanks, I’ve emailed them explaining things so I’m hopeful they’ll just post the washer out.
I did notice that there was hardly any grease in the v3 hub. I pulled the freehub off the other Pave road wheelset I got and there’s a proper amount of grease in it compared to the V3. I think it’s pretty obvious that they are just firing these out the door as fast as they can.
@Meds I’m really tempted to get a set of those boost element wheels as spares for the mtb too. Don’t suppose you weighed them before putting tyres on?

Checked my old photos. The 27.5" version were 1770g with Shimano11 freehub.

Superstar are showing stock of the MTB wheels again, not sure if it's an error but I've stuck an order in for some of the Element V6 wheels.

Possibly nice (possibly shagged) hybrid-y thing in Cornwall. Tange Prestige tubing and fashionable algae: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/504455975007542/

A little, but some of these wheelsets have actually arrived.

Superstar sent me the missing spacer from the hub yesterday and it arrived this morning. All in all, very pleased.
Don't think I'll ever buy 3 wheelsets at once again. -

Some pretty good discounts on Fenix 7s, 7 and 7X at Beaverbrook if you're feeling luxurious. Pretty sure this is the cheapest the Fenix 7 has been since launch.

The 7S Solar Sapphire for £464 possibly the pick of the deals.

Yeah, got my 650b i19 set a month or so ago. Was only 66% off at that point, but still an absolute bargain. Rear wheel has a slight wobble but can't really complain for the price.

Actual lol at Garmin selling a watch for £2k. Even £464 seems like a lot for a digital watch.

Put the front wheel of my heavy duty road set to use today, hadn't realised how narrow the rims were until handling it at the same time as the outgoing kinlin xr22.
None tubeless rims/tyres are such a joy though.

It is a lot of money, but it is stacked with all the tech, best in class battery and build quality.
As a counter, a £464 non smart watch now seems really expensive for me.

My superstar order arrived, I wish I'd gone for the 35mm rim tape. Hoping a patch job over the drain holes will hold.

Sounds like either a seal isn't in the right place or there's a spacer or washer missing inside maybe, depending on how they are designed.
