Yes he did well in Sweden (although I have a vague memory that there was some dodgy finances going on there that ended up with the owner jailed or something) but given the money that Brighton have been spending in the past few years then anything other than their highest league finish would have been a bit of a failure, it's not like they are a club with a history of success. (And agreed about Ashworth's influence.)
Agree though that it's better seeing someone with a bit of development being given the opportunity.

One things for sure, spending £100m + on the shiniest hot new player will definitely fix Chelsea's problem.

Newcastle bringing the small club mentality. Probably inevitable with Howe in charge.

Rumours that Potter has been called in for a "chat". I know I was moaning the other day but I do hope Potter is given a chance. At least a full season to get his plan across. If he is on thin ice the whole "new chelsea Trust the plan" is all just guff from them in charge.

aside from where you might stand on disrupting a football match with a non violent protest, someone pulled a knife out of their pocket to "deal with this".

Remind me which one of them is in prison right now?

And we scored a fucking brilliant goal on 99 minutes, too.
Edit: Pretty sure the bloke was offering the knife to cut the cable tie.
-
• #164094
Given that "this" was a man zip tied to a goal post and the knife was being used to cut the zip tie I don't think it's a particular sinister thing.
-

It was an armoured zip-tie (a pair of these if I remember correctly) that needed bolt croppers to remove (or something more than just a knife).
WhyTF is someone taking a knife like that to a football game?

Really?
Why are they taking a fucking knife to football? Is it for cos play in the pub?
"Introducing your friend and mine.......Stanley" and everyone laughs? -
• #164097
Ah, it does look more like a "every day carry" type leatherman. BUT STILL.
-
• #164098
I'm assuming the guy in the stand didn't know it was an armoured zip tie. It's pretty clear from the way he happily handed it over to the steward what the intention was.
It didn't look like a particularly big knife. I've gone to countless matches with a Swiss army knife on my keyring and not thought anything of it

I guess we have quite different opinions on the acceptability of carrying knives then.
(I have a Leatherman mini with a small blade somewhere in the depths of my bike commuting tool kit but that's about it. I simply don't have a need for a knife as part of an every day carry situation and so I don't carry one. Other people's situations may differ obviously.)
Neither of us have any idea, either way, of how that person in the video would/could use the knife.
It's more the fact that I'm surprised to see one so openly displayed in a place where they are specifically prohibited. I wonder what the steward did with it after he'd attempted to cut the zip-tie with it...

this.
This is much better phrased than my initial response.I'm pretty sure we're all aware of how carrying a knife is viewed depending on who you are.
As a long time Bees supporter it's amazing to see the results Brentford are pulling off this season. Premiership football is one crazy ride!
