“Won” these on evilbay for £17 so that’s good.
And the red bits even match the sram blackbox ceramic BB that was £12 off of the ‘bay

I got some stocking fillers for Jimmy (Liz’s TCX gravgrav). So I fitted them today. Muc-off TL stealth plug bar ends, TL valves and a pair of gloves all for £12! Anyway if Liz ever encounters a bear she now has a knife.

The Midnight Special also got a couple of Christmas gifts. A bam utility belt (49p!!) I don’t use BAM!, but I did have a plan and a Stanley hip flask…it was meant for a mini emergency tube, but it hasn’t arrived yet… the flask is rock solid on there. (Don’t worry it won’t be on there full time)
There was a pair of stealth bar end things and a bell from the MIL.

We got this for Liz’s birthday. She normally rides her Gazelle eBike to work, her TCX for fun and she got a PX road bike to lock up in the city, but wanted a flat bar do it all to replace the road bike.
So here we are.
So far it’s just been remove the reflectors, add a bottle cage and her go to DMR pedals, but there will be guards, a rack (maybe of the pizza variety?) and some nicer tyres to be getting on with. I’m sure there’ll be more to come.

Great thread and some proper fun looking bikes. The midnight special has got me thinking about making the move to 650's on my Straggler.
Aside from the bikes, any more info on the rod? Looks like loads of fun!

Cheers fella, I say go for it with the 650B s it’s much more “cush” and “funs” I whole heartedly recommend .
The rod?
That’s Tetanus. A the moment there’s a 2.0 zetec in there with a 5 speed (in but not plumbed), but it’s had a V6, V8, a turbo 16v rover, a 200sx and a few pintos before. It is a proper laugh. One day I may finish this rebuilt or a may sell it. I’ve had it since 1996 and for 2 years it was our only car. So it’s really part of the family.

Incredible, it needs it's own off-topic project rundown! Whats it based on? Has a 32 ford look but I'm not too hot on that period of cars. Love the offbeat engine in it too. Nice to see a bit of variety in the previous engine lineup too. A proper hotrod is on the long list of cars to own at some point

Thanks, yeah it’s a plastic 1932 ford roadster. It’s safe to say I’m not scared of using an off brand engine.

I’ve changed the tyres on Liz’s Sirrus from the rock hard 32mm to a much suppler 42mm sawtooth. So so so much nicer and my pizza rack is now in place (until she gets her own one!) Guards are ordered and on their way. I’ve also dug up a pair of nicer wheels and a 10 speed group set for when the stock bits die.
Just need to get Liz to hairdryer the axis decals from the rims and it’s done. Oh and the seat needs to go up.

Nice Sequoia. How are the mollywawk bars? Considering them for my vagabond.
-
• #118
Cheers,
They are ok, but I’m not going to use them on the Sequoia. I’m going with some wider more flared drops. They were great on the langster and The Pest, but are too upright for me on a properish gravelly bike. Perfect for a townie type bike, but I couldn’t get the power (hahaha) down with them on a climb. -

Cool, I'd be going for more town bike kind of thing, so sounds like they might be worth a try, cheers

A couple of parcels arrived today; some specialities TA cranks for the Kish. I know they are too old for this bike, but I like them and I want to run a square taper. So they’ll do.
; Liz’s guards turned up and this mean the sawtooths have to come back off as 45mm guards are as big as will fit the frame so my 34mm byways are going on instead.

What are the zipties for?
-
• #125
They are Liz’s dental plan. I noticed the bolts on the top of the rack were a little loose when I moved it from the Sequoia so it can’t hurt. They will be replaced with black ones later.
I ran it SS for over a year, fixed? Not for now.
